The Achievement Centers for Children (ACC) is a non-profit organization that focuses on the education and treatment of children with special needs.  Burt Hill designed its new facility, which serves children with physical and mental challenges through daycare, classes, and outpatient therapy.  The design offers offices and four large, flexible classrooms that can be used for daycare and classes.  Considerations in the classroom design included muted colors, support areas for teachers and aides, observation areas, and spaces for work with small groups or individuals.  ACC also features a wing for outpatient therapy, a small gym area, and an outdoor pavilion for the summer camp program.  The overall design mandate was to create an inviting space for children and parents, while providing separation from the public for the privacy of the children.
